Bill Auditor
Check Your Bill
We calculate the complete correct amount — energy charge, fixed charges, RERF levy, and 7.5% VAT — then compare against what you paid.
How prepaid overcharge works: When you buy a token, the kWh units credited should match the NERC-approved rate for your band. Enter what you paid and what was credited — we'll show if you were shortchanged.

⚠ Note: This estimate covers energy charge only. DisCos deduct fixed charges and VAT before crediting units on prepaid meters, so your actual credited units may be slightly lower. Always cross-check with your meter receipt.
💡 If your meter credits fewer units than shown, use the Bill Auditor above and generate a dispute letter. Screenshot this result as evidence.

FAQ
Common Questions
Everything you need to know before using WATT?
NERC divides customers into five bands (A–E) based on daily supply hours. Band A = 20–24 hrs, Band E = 4–8 hrs. Your band is printed on your postpaid bill. Prepaid customers should check with their DisCo or use our Band Finder tool above. You can also call your DisCo's customer care line.
A legitimate electricity bill has four parts: (1) Energy charge — units × approved rate. (2) Fixed charge — a monthly NERC-approved service fee per band. (3) RERF levy — 2% Rural Electrification Fund contribution. (4) VAT — 7.5% on total. WATT? adds all four to give you the true correct bill. If your DisCo charged more, that is a disputable overcharge.
Overcharging on prepaid meters happens when you buy a token. If the vending system applies an effective rate higher than NERC's mandate for your band, you receive fewer units than you should. Use our Token Calculator to see the exact units you should receive before you buy — and screenshot it as evidence.
Your DisCo must respond within 10 working days under NERC's Customer Protection Regulations. If they don't, escalate to the NERC Forum Office (consumer complaints) or the Consumer Protection Council (CPC). Keep a copy of every communication. Screenshot WhatsApp delivery receipts as proof of submission.
NERC reviews tariffs under the MYTO framework, typically quarterly. Current rates in WATT? are effective from 1st November 2025. The data freshness banner in the Bill Auditor always shows the current effective date. We update the app whenever NERC publishes a new order.
